30 December 2015 (Intellnews.ro) – The Bucharest Court of Appeals decided to put the leader of the nationalist-extremist 64 Counties Youth Movement (HVIM) Transylvania, Szocs Zoltan, under preventive arrest for 30 days.

Szocs Zoltan is being accused by the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) prosecutors of instigating members of the organisation into manufacturing an improvised explosive device, that was to be detonated in Târgu Secuiesc on the National Day of Romania.

DIICOT prosecutors conducted searches at the residences of Szocs Zoltan, who was subsequently taken in custody and transferred to Bucharest for hearings.

The investigators extended research in the case of the arrested extremist Beke Istvan and requested that criminal prosecution of Szocs Zoltan be initiated, for committing the offence of incitement to commit actions against the constitutional order and incitement to breach the regime of explosive materials.

During the October 10, 2015 meeting, as HVIM Transylvania leader, Szocs Zoltan urged members of the organisation to manufacture improvised explosive devices that were to be detonated in Covasna County during the celebrations of the Romanian National day on December 1.

Szocs Zoltan shares extremist views, promotes the slogan ‘Székely Land is not Romania!’ and is convinced that, in order to attain autonomist-separatist purposes in Transylvania, the members of the 64 Counties Youth Movement (HVIM), must gain objectives in a physical way, bloodshed being a must.

On October 13, 2015 Szocs Zoltan left Romania and returned on December 20, to contact family members of Beke Istvan and other participants in the meeting held on October 10, 2015, with the purpose to adopt a public common stance concerning the events that preceded the arrest of Beke Istvan.

In the same case, Beke Istvan, Romanian citizen of Hungarian descent, was placed under preventive arrest, under the allegations of planning to detonate an improvised explosive device at the Romanian National Day ceremony in Târgu Secuiesc.
